Willetta (Dear) Tate Carmena, of Slaughter, LA gained her wings on Friday, July 1, 2016. She departed this life at Zachary Manor, Zachary, LA. She was 92 years old. Willetta, was born on September 5, 1923 in Olive Branch, LA. Through the years, Wiletta was a dedicated wife to her late husband, Johnny Carmena and a loving mother to her eight (8) children. She retired from the East Baton Rouge Parish School System where she worked in the Food Service Dept. She was a devoted member of Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as an usher, deaconess and she was Mother of the Church until her death. Willetta is survived by three (3) daughters: Shirley Williams, Marilyn-Diana Webb-Davis (Demes) and Linda Faye Jackson, four (4) sons: Ronald Carmena, Sr. (Sally), Richard Carmena (Evelina), Kenny Carmena (Joyce), and Hubert Carmena (Linda). Eighteen (18) grandchildren; twenty-three (23) great-grandchildren; and one (1) great-great grandchild. Willetta's celebration of life will take place at Pine Grove Baptist Church, 6670 Hwy 412 East, Slaughter, LA 70777. Viewing hours are 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tue., July 5, 2016 and on Wed, July 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. - until the start of the religious service that will begin at 1 p.m., officiated by Rev. McHenry Wallace. Interment at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Richardson Funeral Home of Clinton, 11186 Jackson Street, Clinton, LA 70722. Mother Deaconess Willetta Tate Carmena highly believed in all children getting a good education. She often talked about her mom teaching school at the church.
