Obituary of Josie B. Wheeler

Josie Bell Booker Wheeler, born September 29, 1932, died Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the home of her daughter, Stephanie Wheeler Wade of Baton Rouge. Josie was 83 years old, a native of Clinton, LA, and a long-time resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation at North Boulevard Macedonia Church, Pastor Clifton Sanford, on Tuesday June 14, 2016 from 8:30 until religious service at 10 am. Josie graduated from East Feliciana Industrial Training School and attended Southern University. She was retired from East Baton Rouge Parish School Food Services. She is survived by her children, Johnny Wheeler, Jr. (Marie), Darryl Wheeler (Yvonne), Duane Wheeler (Darlene) and Stephanie Wheeler Wade, all of Baton Rouge; seven sisters, Pearl Sanders, Leatha Smith, Dorothy Wright, Loretta Booker, Emogene Booker and Gwen Booker all of Baton Rouge and Mary Booker, Houston, TX; one brother, McHenry Booker, Slaughter, LA; uncle, Rev. Charlie Fisher; aunt, Laura Fisher Kelly of Baker, LA; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Josie is preceded in death by husband, Johnny Wheeler Sr.; parents, Jones Booker and Fannie Fisher Booker; and three brothers, Willie, Edward and Robert Booker. Arrangements entrusted to Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, LA. Burial in Port Hudson National Cemetery.
