Good Evening,
Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but my name is Casey, also known as Mrs. Alford JR as she
would call me, she loved to say I wanted to be like her so bad. So, I will start by saying. I’m currently experiencing
tachycardia, tachypnea, and diaphoresis. Which translates as rapid HR, rapid RR, and profuse sweating.
These words may sound familiar to some because they are the same words Mrs. AA used in her speech to our
graduating class this past June. And I would now like to add Tak-uut-soo-bow Cardiomyopathy better known as broken
heart syndrome. Mrs. AA was truly the best at what she did, and she did it with pride and grace and most of all in her
jays. And she did not play. She always said “I don’t care how cool you think we are. When you step foot onto my clinical
site you come in prepared or minus 25 and CU later. She would finish off by stating this is my license on the line, and I
don’t play about mine!”. She would drill us every morning on medication. And if you know my class and medication, you
can imagine our faces. Yall she at me and said, “you can poke them lips out to Florida, I do not care.” But looking back
now, I know that she did and said everything out of love. And I can stand here all-day sharing memories of my teacher
and my mentor. But I will not because I can hear her now “Ms. Gray not today”.
So, I will close by saying that I am so grateful to have learn from a woman like you. A woman who knew who she
was and what she stood for and never forgot to remind us that she graduated from Alcorn. And I know you joked about
me wanting to be like you, but I hope that one day I become the women, the mother, the sister, the wife, the nurse,
and the nurse that you were. I am extremely honored to have been part of the legacy you have left behind. Thank you
for YOUR patience and making our experience so heartwarming and enjoyable at Delta. You are loved and will forever
be missed. Thank you again Mrs. Allford. C U on the other side.
Love,
Casey Gray

I met Deon years ago working at Angola Prison. We were in our early 20’s. We became good friends on and off the job. Even though over the years we lost touch with each other, I never forget about her. Her smile, her glow, that long beautiful hair. We ran across each other about three years ago at Delta when my daughter and I was touring the school. She still had that same smile and glow. I was so saddened to hear this tragic news. U will not be forgotten. Rest peacefully

I am praying for the family, friends, and all who Dionne touched. She left a lasting impression everywhere she went. I will miss that laugh, that smile, that voice of encouragement, and that look she would give when she wanted to say something but chose not to.
May God’s arms surround you all during this time of bereavement. May God keep you all in His perfect peace and love.

Walking in your class in 2016 the only thing that crossed my mind was “who this lady think she is telling me what & what not to do?” I learned quickly that this lady Cassandra Dionne Alford was my saving grace. As stubborn as I was you grabbed ahold of my hand in 2016 and never let it go. You instilled all of your goodness as a person, an instructor, and a nurse in me. You made sure I never forgot that meteprolol is a Beta Blocker and it will do absolutely nothing for the blood pressure. You saw so much potential in me that it was only right that I love & respect you. You gained my heart, my love, my trust, and a niece as I began to call you “my teedie”. You paved the way for me and so many others that I can ensure you your legacy as nurse will live on. Your heart was stretched in so many directions as you took care of everyone you met. You’ve done a great works while here on earth. Psalms 11:7 tells us that the lord is righteous and loves good deeds; those who do them will live in his presence.” Though we are never prepared for moments like this we must not be selfish. Today we say good bye to the body but never to the soul, the memories, and ALL the good you have done. Cassandra Dionne Alford on behalf of everyone I want to say thank you for ALL that you have done for us!!

"Ms. Alexander" the name I always used for her, was one of the best instructors we've ever had at Delta. She was almost always chosen as Commencement speaker by each graduating class. She was stern, tough, fair, and nurturing. I know all of those words don't seem to go together, but it worked for her. She did everything she could to encourage her students to learn and to grow. She was valuable and loved by all of us. She will truly be missed here on earth, but I trust her new home is better than anything we could offer. She was a blessing.

Cassassy! I can’t believe you’re gone. We bonded & had similar life stories. You were the instructor that changed my life & pushed me like no other! I’m so happy I chose you to pin me & I’m so proud you lit my candle! I’m so grateful we kept in touch years later & I’m gonna miss you. You were the COOLEST, SMARTEST, flyest, Jordan wearin nurse EVER! You were truly an angel on Earth. You taught me to be a “DARN GOOD NURSE” in your words not mine… I won’t ever stop. You were my greatest inspiration in nursing!

Not enough characters for me to talk about our memories. From Sage to you helping me out with starting my school, you offering FREE cpr classes to my students, you coming to my grand opening, our birthday lunches together, etc. Although bittersweet, I'm glad we gave each other our flowers while we were here! I'm gonna miss you calling me boss lady. I'm going to miss talking to you period. Such a hard pill to swallow...

Thank you so much for everything you’ve taught us. You’re a truly amazing nurse and instructor. You understood where we came from and how we learned. You helped us in so many ways that no one understands. You were there to when we needed the extra push. I was so glad that we got an experience with a true genuine person and nurse. Your words still speak to me till this day. Now you are watching us above in the heavens. Good and faithful servant, well done!

It's hard to believe this amazing woman is gone. You've helped so many along the way and inspired so many people to be better. I don't think you really understood the impact you had on those who came into your presence or those who were your students, like me. You never wanted to see anyone fail, you always pushed everyone to do well. Your after school tutoring sessions, which you didn't have to do showed how bad you wanted everyone to succeed. You wanted us all to be just as great as you, F.A. Davis (your nickname because you knew every medicine in that pharmacology book). Just know that your legacy will live om through all of your students and we will make you proud. To one of our favorite nurses in the scrubs and Jordans, we will miss you and we love you. I'm glad you were able to see how much you were appreciated this year during nursing week. You really put your mark here on Earth. Rest Easy Fly Girl.

You reminded me that I was your first babysitter…Tee Sis had me watching you & Mookie. She said not to let you outside. You went to the clothesline & it was taking too long. I looked out the window & you were talking to someone, so I told you to get back inside. You asked in a sarcastic voice, “Well can I at least have some water?” I guess I was the warden. We still laughed about that day. Rest on cousin.
