Obituary – Rolonda Monique Durham-Gros

Rolanda Monique Durham-Gros went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Rolanda was born on May 14, 1970, in Baton Rouge, LA. She attended school in Jackson, LA, Kindergarten through 7th grade. She relocated to La Porte, TX where she finished her education, grades 8 – 12 and graduated from La Porte High School. In 2008, she received a BS Degree in Criminal Justice from Southern University AM&E College, Baton Rouge, LA She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Houston, TX. She later moved her membership to the Star Hill Baptist Church of St. Francisville, LA under the Leadership of Pastor Murlon Webb. She was a faithful member of Star Hill Baptist Church until her health failed. She served as a Financial Secretary for the church. She was employed by the Department of Health for 17 years.
Rolanda was a devoted member of the Ladies of Excellence Book Club where she enjoyed reading and discussing the books they had read for that month. She also loved to go on Cruises.
Rolanda Monique Durham-Gros leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Collin Gros; two daughters, Jalyn Brown and Haley Gros, Baton Rouge, LA; parents, James & Annette Durham, Forest Hill, TX, Clarence and Doris Alexander, Zachary, LA; her grandfather, George W. Alexander, St. Francisville, LA; three brothers, Roderick (Kelly) Durham, Denver, CO, James Durham, Jacksonville, FL and Preston (Michelle) Alexander, Baton Rouge, LA; two sister, Joyce (Johnny) Offord, Keirsten (John) Alexander, Baton Rouge, LA one devoted cousin/sister, Carolyn (Gerald) Jackson, Baker, LA; two Goddaughters, Jasmine (Curtis) Spearmen, Denham Springs, LA, Whitlee Jackson, Baker, LA; one Godson, Mason Major, Zachary, LA, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charley, Sr. and Louise Jones, Jackson, LA; her grandmother, Hattie C. Alexander; one aunt Bestery Gwin, Baker, LA.
