Obituary of Ben J. Walker, Sr.

Ben James Walker, Sr. passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 31, 2024. He was 84 years old. He was born and raised in Fayette, Mississippi on August 29, 1940. At the age of 20, he moved to New Orleans. He retired from Regional Transit Authority in 2004 after 38 years of service. After Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans in 2005, Ben and his family moved to Baywood, La. Later, he would settle in Pine Grove. He leaves behind to cherish his memories-his wife of 60 years, Annie Marie (Jackson) Walker, three children-Michelle, Vanessa, and Ben Jr., six grandchildren, two sisters-Ruby Plummer and Vanessa Daniels, both of Los Angeles, CA., son-in-law, Reginald Green, and a host of family and friends. Visitation will take place Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 9a.m.-11a.m., with the funeral to follow. Interment will be Cedar Grove Church Cemetery.
